Wildcard Reveal: Rising European Stars Join Super League Line-Up
Two Super League first timers join the ranks for the start of the 2019 Championship Series as Wildcard Week wraps up with two more rising stars of triathlon confirmed.
RBC Super League Triathlon Jersey 2019 will see a debut for Norwegian triathlete Gustav Iden, who will get a taste of the sport’s most exciting race formats for the first time.
Joining him on the women’s side this 28-29 September at the RBC Super League Jersey is another exciting prospect in the shape of the 2014 French Youth Olympic mixed relay gold medalist Emilie Morier.
The duo complete Super League’s Wildcard week, which has added ten names to a start list that already includes the top ten Ranked Athletes from last season and nine Qualifiers on the men’s and women’s start list.
There will be a few more Wildcard announcements to come in the build-up to Jersey so stay tuned.
Today’s Wildcards are:
Part of Norway’s talented male team, Iden is making a breakthrough to the big time and is handed a chance to really make a name for himself in Super League. He will be debuting in the Championship Series at this year’s RBC Super League Triathlon Jersey 2019 and his presence on the start line alongside fellow countryman Blummenfelt should shake things up a bit.
The just crowned 2019 U23 World Champion and 22-year-old will come into her debut Super League season off the back of securing her spot at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after beating current SLT athletes Cassandre Beaugrand and Leonie Periault to finish the fastest Frenchwomen at this month’s ITU Tokyo test event. With a strong 2019 season to her name already, Morier will be a name to look out for on the Super League circuit after bringing home an individual gold medal at the Madrid ITU Triathlon World Cup (sprint distance) in May before helping Team France deliver gold in the ITU mixed relay at Hamberg in July alongside current Super League men’s champion, Vincent Luis.
