Super League Poznan: The Pressure Is On

It’s make or break time for a host of Pros as they bid to secure a coveted spot in Super League Triathlon’s 2019 Championship Series.

The penultimate qualification event of the year takes place in Poznan, Poland, next weekend with a bumper field aiming to secure a Golden Ticket into the most thrilling triathlon series in the world.

It’s big pressure for all the athletes, and particularly those that have had a taste of Super League in the past and want to fight their way back in.

There are five previous Super League stars looking to earn one of the three male and three female spots into the 2019 Championship Series, which kicks-off on 28-29 September in Jersey.

So, just who will toe the line in Poznan aiming to fight their way back into Super League?

Igor Polyanskiy
The Russian is the highest ranked athlete from the 2018 Series on the start line and a huge threat to the rest of the field. Polyanskiy competed in all four Super League events last year and only narrowly missed out on an automatic contract by finishing 12th in the standings. The super swimmer is hoping to fight his way back in.

Jayden Schofield
Having finished 15th in the 2018 Series, Jayden is looking for a return to Super League to put into practise all the things he learned in what was a baptism of fire for the youngster. There’s a lot on the line for the Australian who is keen to establish a name for himself in the sport.

Ollie Turner
There is one very special race that Turner wants qualify for – RBC Super League Jersey. The Jersey native is desperate to race in front of his hometown crowd again having loved the experience last year. Turner is a developing young athlete and will be looking to use his bike strength to his advantage.

Luke Schofield
The second half of the Schofield twins will feel he has plenty to prove. Luke finished 18th in 2018, a few places below his brother and also behind Polyanski and Turner. That means there is plenty of work for him to do to grab one of the three spots on offer.

Elena Danilova
Having had a taste of Super League by competing in all four races in 2018, Danilova is back looking for more. The Russian finished 20th in the Series standings last time out and is the only woman from last year who returns for this particular qualifier. Danilova will be hoping to make her experience of Super League’s thrilling race formats count.
