Beginner Or Contender, Super-fast, Super Addictive And A Memorable Experience For All!

The Super League Triathlon (SLT) Championship weekend in Jersey was not just about showcasing the world’s best triathletes, we also had a wide selection of Age Groupers from complete beginners to true contenders, taking on two distances, SUPER SPRINT – SWIM (400m), BIKE (10km), RUN (2.5km) and the ENDURO – SWIM (400m), BIKE (10km), RUN (2.5km) x 2.

Most of the Age Groupers lining up will never have experienced racing like this before – SLT is triathlon like you’ve never seen it, fully supported and delivered just like the professional racing whilst set in the beautiful surroundings of Jersey. This was one not to be missed!

AG SUPER SPRINT – SWIM (400m), BIKE (10km), RUN (2.5km):

1st Female: Sophie Dorey (GBR) (0:41:52)

1st Male: Charles Bird (GBR) (0:35:19)

In the AG SUPER SPRINT, Sophie Dorey (GBR) took out the female race with a great time of 0:41:52 beating some stiff competition and just pushing another British athlete, Samantha Le Sueur, into second by under 50 seconds! In the men’s race there was the story of the day as young Charles Bird (GBR) was so inspired having watched Ollie Turner race on the Saturday he enquired, at late notice, about entering the AG race the following day. Charles had never competed in a triathlon before……and he only went and won it with a time of 0:35:19!!!! He took it out over local athlete Richard Sellors (JER) by under 40 seconds. That is a proper smash fest, good work Charles, we hope to see you at another SLT event soon!

So, a clean sweep from British athletes in the AG SUPER SPRINT against a stacked field!

AG ENDURO- SWIM (400m), BIKE (10km), RUN (2.5km) x 2:

1st Female: Sarah Hodgson (GBR) (01:06:42)

1st Male: Daniel Hahn (GER) (01:04:57)

In the ENDURO it was another British athlete who took the female race in the form of Leeds Triathlon Centre’s Sarah Hodgson (GBR) with a time of 01:06:42, beating Claire Forbes (GBR) by just over five mins!!! That’s some serious racing and Sarah showed some real class taking it out by that much.

The male field fought it out, but Germany’s Daniel Hahn, who, at the age of 19 overtook everyone, including all the relay competitors, to win the race with a time of 01:04:57. He beat Ben Psaila (GBR) into second by just under two mins which shows how close it can be!

We also had relay teams competing with female, male and mixed teams with the winning teams below:

AG SUPER SPRINT RELAY – SWIM (400m), BIKE (10km), RUN (2.5km):

Female: You Just Got Chicked!! (00:33:43)

Male: Old Skool (00:31:17)

Mixed Rouleurs (00:30:43)

AG ENDURO RELAY – SWIM (400m), BIKE (10km), RUN (2.5km) x 2:

Female Jersey Tri Club (01:13:51)

Male Chafing The Dream (01:05:54)

Mixed Jersey (01:07:32)

With a roaring crowd behind them these athletes took on the same conditions and the bike course as the professionals and came out firing. This is what SLT inspires in everyone racing across the weekend and we hope they’ll be back for more next year as the racing returns to Jersey on 28th and 29th September 2019.
