Everything You Need To Know About The SLT Arena Games

Excitement is building ahead of the SLT Arena Games making its debut in Rotterdam on August 23.

The likes of Jonny Brownlee, Richard Murray, Cassandre Beaugrand and Rachel Klamer will be taking part in the first esports triathlon of its kind thanks to the new partnership between Super League Triathlon and Zwift. There’s so much to look forward to and a clamour for information on how to watch this unique event. Here’s all you need to know…

What are the SLT Arena Games?

The SLT Arena Games are an innovative new concept developed by Super League Triathlon and Zwift to get the Pros back racing again and deliver exciting competition to sports fans across the world.

When is the first race?

The wonderful city of Rotterdam will host the first ever staging of the SLT Arena Games on August 23 (1-3pm CET). The event will be the pinnacle of the Rotterdam Summer Games.

How will it work?

In a first for the sport, the SLT Arena Games will be an amalgamation of in real life and virtual racing and provide an immersive viewing experience that allows fans to get up close and personal with the best triathletes in the world and enjoy live power, speed and heart rate data from Zwift.

The swim leg takes place in an Olympic sized pool while the bike and run disciplines are completed on Tacx Neo2Tsmart trainers and self-powered treadmills with the power and speed of the athletes turned into a visual race on Zwift’s amazing platform.

What format will the athletes race?

The Pros will be racing Super League’s unique Triple Mix format.

That means three short, sharp and unpredictable races that will offer no respite to the athletes with the order of the disciplines shuffled each time.

There is a very short break between the three races. The results of the three individual races will combine to determine the overall winner.

Who is racing?

Super League has recruited the biggest names in the sport with ten men and ten women competing.

In the women’s field Cassandre Beaugrand and Rachel Klamer will be racing while the men’s line-up will feature the likes of Jonny Brownlee, Richard Murray and Jonas Schomburg. There will be one spot reserved in both fields for a Dutch rookie to be handed an incredible opportunity to test themselves against the very best.

Stay tuned to Super League’s social channels as we unveil the rest of the stellar line-up in the run-up to the event with some star names to be announced.

Is there prize money?
