Luis Won’t Take French Domination For Granted

Vincent Luis is not taking the French domination of Super League for granted.

Luis and his countryman Pierre Le Corre took total control of the men’s Final in Jersey with the defending champion proving too strong as he began the defence of his Super League title with a victory.

With Cassandre Beaugrand winning the women’s race it was quite a weekend for France, who are in pole position heading into Super League Malta on 19-20 October.

But Luis knows that there is some live competition behind the French stars and admitted to having to keep a close eye on Hayden Wilde as he and Le Corre sought to ensure a France one-two.

“It was pretty good. Being with my countryman Pierre at the front was really nice and we took control of Hayden at the back and were looking round to see where he was and we had information from our coaches. It was good to see we could control him and make our race off the front but you still have to count Hayden in so it was a hard race for us at the front and have a French battle while still keeping an eye on the Final.”

Things will be a little different in Malta with the Equalizer format coming into play.

That will mean the Final will see an individual bike TT before the athletes are set off for two rounds of swim-bike-run in pursuit style, which makes it much less likely Luis and Le Corre will be able to team up.
