Taylor Spivey hopes Tim Don is regretting his decision to drop her from the SLT Eagles after taking the lead in the race for the Super League Triathlon Championship Series.
Don controversially opted not to retain Spivey, preferring to grab Non Stanford as a first round draft pick, with the American star instead being immediately picked up by SLT Rhinos boss Ronnie Schildknecht.
With the Eagles bottom of the Teams Leaderboard and Spivey top of the Overall after a superb victory in Malibu, the decision looks even more suspect.
Spivey said: “I think he regrets his decision. I am enjoying the Rhinos. It’s a great group and maybe he will make a better decision next year.”
The win in Malibu was extra special for Spivey given she grew up just down the coast in Redondo Beach, and had family and friends cheering her on.
“It feels incredible,” she reflected. “If there is a race I could have won in this Series it’s pretty cool that it was at home.
“We all feel a bit rough after all the travel and it’s our third race in three weeks so I am very pleased to win it.”
There was also a superb third place for Rhinos teammate Vasco Vilaca, who has endured a lot this Series after having to ride Georgia Taylor-Brown’s bike in London after a last minute issue with his and being bitten by a seal just two days before Malibu.
Spivey smiled: “Vasco did so well. He was feeling rough so I am very happy he came away with a podium.”
