Athletes Women › Jeanne Lehair
Jeanne Lehair is one of the best young talents to emerge from an enviable French system, and having worn the Tricolore for the past decade is now switching allegiance to represent Luxembourg. Lehair is one of four sporting siblings introduced to the sport by her athletic father at an early age, taking part in her first triathlon at the age of just 7.
Rarely off the podium in junior triathlon and duathlon races, highlights include a third- place in the World Duathlon Junior Championship in 2012 in Nancy, where a young Georgia Taylor-Brown took top spot. She was also third in the French national champs the following year behind the talented duo of Leonie Periault and Cassandre Beaugrand. A first individual win at elite level came with a European Cup success in Madrid in 2015, and later that summer she became European mixed relay champion in Geneva and then took the mixed relay world title, leading off the race in Hamburg in a team comprising Dorian Coninx, Audrey Merle and Vincent Luis.
Fifth in the 2017 French national championships with Beaugrand and Periault again leading the way, Lehair won the World University Triathlon Championship in Kalmar, Sweden in September 2018 and backed it up with mixed relay success the following day. The French aquathlon champion from 2019, Lehair’s last victory was a Europe Cup triumph in Olsztyn, Poland last year.
Coached by Portugal’s Paulo Sousa, 2022 has also seen strong performances with a fourth in World Cup in Italy and equally impressive eighth in Montreal where she made the final round of the eliminator contest.
Outside of triathlon she is a fan of ska acoustic band Tryo and Las Vegas pop-rock group Imagine Dragons.
