Ronnie Schildknecht has appointed Nicholas Chase as his SLT Rhinos Co-Manager for the 2022 Championship Series as the team bosses strengthen their backroom line-ups.

Chase, an influential American triathlete, coach and media personality, has been handpicked by Schildknecht to oversee the Rhinos in Malibu and Toulouse when the Swiss racing legend is unable to attend.

In addition, several Team Managers have also appointed assistant managers for the Championship Series.

These are likely to be vital roles, as with managers such as Chris McCormack and Michelle Dillon on commentary duties at the venue, the assistants will be tasked with choosing which athlete to hand Short Chutes to.

The new rules for 2022 mean that athletes win a Short Chute for their team, and the manager will then decide which of their athletes to allocate it to live during the race. Though team tactics will have been discussed beforehand, the assistant managers will have to be ready to adapt to a rapidly changing race environment and make the all-important final call.

Scorpions boss Chris McCormack has handed the job to Michael Gilliam, who leads the Bahrain Victorious team, while Michelle Dillon has turned to her husband, former British Olympic triathlete Stuart Hayes, whose experience and knowledge is second to none.
