Turner Ready for NEOM Reality Check

Ollie Turner is preparing to see how he measures up against legends from the world of swim, bike and run.

Turner is one of the Super League athletes set to line-up against a stellar field of Tour de France winners, Olympic gold medallists and world record holders for Super League Triathlon NEOM 2020: The Opener.

The Jersey native admits he is intrigued to see how the Super League stars will hold up against the likes of Cadel Evans, Paula Radcliffe and Inge de Bruijn when they square off in a spectacular setting on 27-28 March.

He said:

With the idea of having famous athletes from outside of triathlon and Olympians and gold medallists adds a next level bit of excitement because I don’t think it’s been done before.
It will be interesting to see how we fare compared to them because they are excellent at their individual sport and we do all three at a pretty good level but we’ll see how far we are off them.

Turner admits he is honoured to be one of the Super League athletes selected to take part alongside some huge names in the sport such as Kristian Blummnfelt, Ruichard Murray and Rachel Klamer.

He smiled:

I first heard about it in December. I didn’t really know much about it but it sounded exciting.
I have never been to the Middle East and the heat scares me so I will need to prepare.
I am looking forward to it. The format looks exciting so I need to make sure I am ready to go.
It is an honour to be chosen as one of the ten they could have picked. Age does matter in regards to experience but I don’t think about that because if you think ‘I’m 21 and he is 27 and had all that experience’ it can scare you.
We are all on the same startline with the same job to do and we all want to beat each other. I don’t worry about being the youngster and instead how to do the best job I can.
