Super League Ottawa: Homeground Advantage

Canada is a proud triathlon nation and they are hoping that Super League’s final qualification race of the year in Ottawa will provide them a clean sweep of spots to shine in triathlon’s most thrilling Championship Series.

Super League’s 2018 Series saw just five Canadians compete. Two of them – Tyler Mislawchuk and Matthew Sharpe – stole the headlines by finishing in top ten and securing automatic places in the 2019 Championship Series, which begins in Jersey on 28-29 September.

However, with one qualification event remaining, there have been no further Canadian men qualify and, as yet, no Canadian women at all.

That could all change in Ottawa with a whopping 65 per cent of the female professional field made up of Canadians aiming to secure one of the last three spots in this year’s Championship Series event, while the men’s field is 38 per cent Canadian.

Andreanne Briere-Dulude, Claudie Simard, Elisabeth Boutin, Desiare Ridenour, Dominika Jamnicky, Celine Marks, Samantha Klus, Hannah Henry, Paula Findlay and Rachael Faulds are all aiming to finish in the top three in front of their home crowds in the women’s division.

Jeremy Briand, Josh Stevens, Chris Gregor, Nathan Killam, Aiden Longcroft-Harris, Alexis Lepage, Aron Mohammadi, Liam Donnelly, Josh Rasmusen, Martin Sobey and Jessey The Elf lead the male charge.

The pros will race the Enduro format on the Saturday and the Eliminator on the Sunday as part of an action-packed weekend that also sees a whole host of Age Group options available.

On top of that, Super League will also be providing a family friendly atmosphere to allow people to come and race and then watch on and relax as the pros battle it out later in the day.
