Paula Findlay: A Canadian Legend Approaches

Canadian triathlon legend Paula Findlay is aiming to book her place in Super League’s 2019 Championship Series as she continues a remarkable injury comeback.

Findlay was one of the sport’s brightest lights when in 2010, aged just 20, she burst on to the world stage in dramatic fashion, winning back-to-back WCS races.

Heading into 2011 things were getting better and better as another three top level victories marked her out as a potential medallist at the London Olympics in 2012.

But then injury struck. A nagging hip problem blighted Findlay for several years and cost her dearly at the Olympics where she finished last.

It has been a long and bumpy road to recovery for the former Under-23 World Championship bronze medallist, but she is once again thriving.

Findlay has found success in long distance triathlon but still has yet to give up on her dreams of further glory at the short and sharp variety of the sport.

She is set to receive a huge amount of home crowd support as she takes to the start line of Super League Ottawa in a bid to win one of three Golden Tickets into the 2019 Championship Series.

It won’t be an easy task.

Not only will the Pros have to come through two gruelling races over the weekend with both the Enduro and Eliminator formats in play, but the opposition includes a host of other well known triathlon names as well as emerging young talent – and all are desperate to win their way into Super League.

Findlay, though, has not only the quality and class apparent in the results over her decade long senior career but a desire to succeed and not let any chances pass her by as she enters another stage of her career.
