Super League Triathlon regrets to announce that it has been forced to cancel the bike leg of this weekend’s Age Group Enduro, Age Group Sprint and GO TRI races due to adverse weather conditions.
After taking expert meteorological advice Super League has been left with no option but to remove the bike section due to safety concerns on the route along Victoria Avenue, making the races swim-run. However, Super League has come up with an innovate solution and secured permission to offer a new and very special swim, which will be followed by a two-loop 5km run.
The marina in St Helier is normally out of bounds for swimmers, with Super League getting special permission to use it for just the two Championship races it hosts every year. But it has been granted the opportunity to allow Age Groupers to swim their 300m leg in the marina just like the Pros.
The two-loop run will end under the same finish arch as for the Championship Series athletes to give that special feeling to all participants.
Relay teams are welcome to still participate as a pair, or all three team members can take part as individuals if they wish. Any participant who wants to complete just one 2.5km lap is free to do so.
Super League will continue to monitor the situation and issue final updates and starting instructions on race morning.
The race meeting zone has been relocated to the Fanzone at 7.30am on Sunday.
Super League is not anticipating any changes to the Championship races.
