Wildcard Reveal – Georgia Taylor-Brown & Marten Van Riel Return!

RBC Super League Triathlon Jersey 2019 is ready for its biggest year yet with two superstar Wildcards ready to up the stakes.

There is a real British feel to the first batch of Wildcards confirmed by Super League for the opening event of the 2019 Championship Series, with one of GB’s most successful females joining yesterday’s local duo of Josh Lewis and Ollie Turner by gaining a start in the race.

But the Brits won’t have it all their own way in any of the races, as we continue to reveal strong wildcards from the rest of Europe, such as a lightning quick Belgian who’s now in the mix for the men’s line-up.

The duo will join the top ten athletes from the 2018 Championship Series and the nine who battled through the Qualifiers, with two Wildcards still to be announced.

Today’s confirmed Wildcards are:

Georgia Taylor-Brown
Taylor-Brown is in the form of her life at the moment as the English athlete lights up the triathlon world and thrills the WTS series. The 25-year-old uber biker has some pretty impressive Super League form in Jersey having finished fourth in 2018 and returns as a genuine threat to stand on top of the podium at the conclusion of the weekend’s racing.

Marten van Riel
The Belgian athlete has a huge rating in the swim and bike legs according to Super League Triathlon’s performance indicator, meaning his presence could be a game changer. Always looking for a breakaway on the bike, the 26-year-old from Belgium raced one Super League event last year and proved what he is all about with a fourth place in Mallorca.
