Sun, Sea And SLT: 5 Reasons To Come To Super League Triathlon Malta 2019

Sun, sea and Super League Triathlon. What could be better?

Super League Triathlon is returning to Malta on 19-20 October for a stunning weekend of racing and enjoyment for both Pros and amateurs alike. The historic Mediterranean island will play host to triathlon’s most exciting race formats as the 2019/20 Championship Series lands for the second event on the calendar.

There are so many great reasons to fly or ferry over to Malta for the event and enjoy the fun. Here, we take a look at just five of them:

5 Reasons
  1. Chase the sun
As the weather starts to turn and the jumpers begin to be removed from the wardrobe in much of northern Europe, Malta is still basking in the sun with a sea temperature of 24 degrees Celsius in October. Why not put off the winter blues for a bit longer and make the easy trip with direct flights from countless destinations?
If you have a consistent pain/injury, it is best to rest rather than push through. Keeping a journal will help you keep track, understand if there is a trend, and know how long it has been going on. Tell your coach if you have one!.
  2. Enjoy an amazing sporting spectacle
Super League Triathlon provides the most entertaining and talked about racing of the year. Our amazing Pros, who are the very best in the world, battle it out in thrilling, action-packed formats while our course layouts mean spectators can get so close to the action they can almost touch the athletes.
  3. Race the same course as the Pros
On the Saturday, the Corporate Team Enduro provides a chance for businesses to come together and enter a team for this cosmopolitan event. On the Sunday, the course is open to anyone who wants to enter our Aquathlon. With distances from as little as a 300-metre swim and 2.5km run, and the option to do double that or split either option by pairing up for a relay, there is something for everybody. There is even a kid’s Aquathlon too. For more information click here
  4. Love the culture
Malta boasts more than 7,000 years of history and no less than three UNESCO World Heritage sites, all within short distances and open on weekends too. October just happens to be the month that starts to overflow with cultural events on the local calendar. From opera, to festivals and exhibitions, there are all sorts of goodies to entertain singles, couples or families before and after the Triathlon and Aquathlon. The baroque city of Valletta, also the capital city of Malta, has some of the most beautiful architecture on the island. It also houses the Palace of the Grandmaster of the Knights of St John. For the nature lovers, Malta’s autumn transforms the countryside in to a green wonderland with backdrops of honey gold limestone, all surrounded by azure & turquoise sea. Perfect for hiking, mountain bike, or take a dive and explore the underwater wrecks! Or take the Gozo Channel Ferry across to the sister island of Gozo. For the night owls, you’ll have to choose between dancing all night in the fantastic nightlife centre of Malta, or chillaxing your evening at romantic and quaint wine bar venues –  tough choice isn’t it? Oh and let’s not forget the mouth-watering choices on the menus at the many fantastic restaurants here. Sound tempting at all?
  5. Stay active
As well as the Corporate Team Enduro, the Aquathlons, the chance to watch the Pros, the Youths and Juniors in action, combined with a colorful regatta, there are more chances to be inspired and stay active. The Nike Fun Run features 1.5km, 3km and 5km options for adults, juniors and kids. Signs up available here
