Investing In The Talents Of Tomorrow – RBC Super League Triathlon Jersey

Super League Triathlon (SLT) has always been about the future of triathlon – and tomorrow, we give the next generation a chance to race head to head across the Enduro format in Jersey at what will be the biggest weekend of triathlon of their young lives!
We scoured Europe to find the best Youth (15-16 y/o) and Junior (17-19 y/o) athletes and bring them to the beautiful island of Jersey for a once in a lifetime opportunity to race as part of the first SLT Championship Weekend.
In the Youth category we have a field of 52 athletes, and in the Junior category, 47 athletes, all from an eclectic mix of countries including Great Britain, Belgium, Ireland, Germany, Switzerland, Jersey, and The Netherlands.
Both the Youth and the Junior races will take place on the Saturday of the Championship Weekend with the Junior cat kicking it off at 0830h and the Youth cat commencing at 1300h. They will race over the ENDURO format (SWIM, BIKE, RUN x 3 with no break!!) on exactly the same course as the professional athletes, with exactly the same level of support from the SLT team and the roaring crowd!
SLT is pulling out all the stops to give these young performers a taste of what it is like to race at the highest level in triathlon; some of the athletes you see racing in these formats will be stars of the future and we know how important these first opportunities can be. Athletes like Laura Swannet, who at the age of 19yr is representing Belgium in the Junior cat, will be looking to make an impression with her strong running pedigree (coming 2nd in the Belgian Cross-Country Running Championships whilst also managing 2nd in the European Duathlon Championships Juniors in 2017) – she will be hoping to build on this experience and shine across the SLT weekend. One young athlete representing Jersey is Jack Kennedy (pictured above) who at the age of 16 years old has multiple races at British Super Series and recently raced at the European Triathlon Youth Championships. A strong runner he will be planning to exploit this strength when the time comes to put the hammer down.
As an organisation formed around the idea of building strong foundations on which the sport can grow and evolve, we understand more than anyone how crucial these young athletes are to the future success and health of triathlon. We also understand how important it is that the next wave of talent are given as many opportunities as possible to race in varied and interesting environments against as broad a field as possible.
SLT will give them everything they need to show how good they are but they also need the crowd to get behind them and lift their performances into the stratosphere.
Speed is youth, so come out and support the next generation of talent!
