Jeanne Lehair Thrives Under Pressure As Championship Series Surprise Package

Super League Triathlon

Jeanne Lehair has been one of the surprise packages of this year’s Super League Triathlon with a calm performance in front of friends and family in Toulouse proving she can make the most of SLT’s star making capabilities.

Lehair, 26, came into the Championship Series as an athlete flying under the radar, but has made her presence felt.

After finishing 14th in London following a puncture, she was little talked about, but fourth, fifth and sixth in Munich, Malibu and Toulouse have her sat sixth in the Overall Leaderboard and just six points off of third heading to the Grand Finale in NEOM on October 29.

Toulouse was potentially her most difficult race given the pressure of racing in front of a ‘home crowd’. Lehair represents Luxembourg but grew up in France, and admitted it was a tough ask for her.

She said: “The start of Super League was not so good for me with the puncture in London and I was disappointed. I knew I could do well and was sixth before the puncture.

“In Munich the weather was with me because I’m from Metz so I’m used to the cold and the rain and I did well.

“In Malibu I was so frustrated with the waves and the first swim I was really bad but the last wave I took. I was so confident and wanted points in the bag for the team and I probably killed my legs a bit.

“In Toulouse I started to get nervous as always, but even more because it was more or less a local race. I had a lot of friends there, my mum came, and if this was a bad race it would be awful.

“I was very nervous but the crowd really pushed me and honestly it was amazing.”
