Community Challenge
Jersey'20
Congratulations Jersey! Super League Triathlon (SLT) and Royal Bank of Canada (RBC) are thrilled to see the amazing response to the RBC SLT Community Challenge, just one week after it launched. Jersey residents have answered the call and got active in support of Mind Jersey’s Youthful Minds Group, which aims to end the stigma surrounding mental illness in young people.
RBC and SLT challenged Islanders to collectively swim, cycle, run or walk 20,000km between 1-20 September, with RBC committing a £20,000 donation to Youthful Minds if successful.
The Jersey community has smashed the 20,000km target within seven days, so RBC and SLT have decided to raise the stakes! RBC will donate an additional £20,000 to Mind Jersey, if Islanders can reach 100,000km in total by 20 September.
If everyone on the island logs just 1km over the next 13 days, this new target will be easily reached and a total of £40,000 will be donated to support Jersey residents’ physical and mental health wellbeing in the community.
David Bailey, COO, RBC Wealth Management, said: “I am so proud of how the Jersey community has come together this week to take part in the RBC SLT Community Challenge. It is inspiring to see what can be accomplished as we encourage one another to get active, all while making significant contributions to combating the stigma surrounding mental illness.”
Michael D’hulst, CEO at Super League Triathlon, said: “I am beyond impressed at how the Jersey community rallied together to reach the RBC SLT Community Challenge target so quickly. The vital funds donated to Mind Jersey by RBC will be invaluable to the work the charity does in ensuring young people find the right information and resources surrounding mental illness.”
