Mourant Back Corporate Wellness Drive In RBC SLT Community Challenge

There can rarely have been a more important time for businesses across the world to focus on the health and wellbeing of their employees.

From walking meetings and standing desks through to small groups going out to exercise as a social distanced team during working hours, there are many ideas and concepts being adopted as employers get serious about supporting employees and, in turn, sustaining productivity in the COVID era.

While corporate wellness has become an important focus in 2020, Mourant has placed employee wellbeing as a priority for many years, and is working with Super League to support other companies to do the same.

One excellent example is the RBC SLT Community Challenge. Mourant is partnering with Super League to promote a team concept to encourage employers to get their employees active and motivated by challenging companies to get involved – and Mourant is even offering up a VIP table at the next event in Jersey as a prize.

Mourant is also leading by example by currently topping the leaderboard.

Mourant Jersey Managing Partner, Daniel Birtwistle, said:

“Supporting the physical and mental wellbeing of our people has long been a priority at Mourant.

“Corporate wellness extends beyond employee health schemes. At Mourant, it includes a year-round programme from our global employee-led Wellbeing Network, our extensive Employee Assistance Programme, standing desks, workplace massages, walking meetings, lunchtime swims and after work runs, to name a few. We don’t expect our team members to compete in endurance challenges, but we’re proud that some of them do! Plus our trained mental health first aiders are always contactable for advice and signposting.

“We’re also passionate about aligning with other like-minded organisations, which is why we’re pleased to partner with Super League Triathlon in the Corporate Team Enduro and this year’s RBC SLT Community Challenge. I’m thrilled that so many Team Mourant colleagues have thrown themselves into the challenge and clocked up the kilometres, smashing our original target of 2,000km within just a week!

“It’s fantastic to see so many corporate teams involved in the challenge, encouraging employees to get active, as we collectively aim for the new stretch target in aid of Mind Jersey. We’re building on the incredible momentum as the challenge continues, leading the way to help reach 100,000km.”

Super League’s foundation is built on promoting health and wellbeing, inspiring people around the world to get active while showcasing the stars of triathlon.

The company’s CEO, Michael D’hulst, said:

“At Super League we believe strongly in the power and positivity that comes with being active, and that you do not have to be a sporting superstar to enjoy the benefits of exercise.

“We are always encouraging our employees to be fit and active, and we have enjoyed taking part in the Community Challenge. We all sat together as a team and set individual targets to aim for during the course of the Challenge, and each one will be an achievement to hit, whether it be a target for one of our super fit triathletes or a member of staff establishing a new regular exercise regime.

“We have had a regular weekly run club for some time now and to mark the last week of the Challenge we are taking an afternoon away from the office to meet in a small group to enjoy being outside and exercising together.

“Exercise and being active is such a huge source for good in the world, and it is fantastic that there are businesses like Mourant which are keen to promote this to other companies. Studies show that fit and healthy employees are likely to be happier, more loyal and more productive, so it is a situation that benefits everyone.”
