Sports Technology Power List 2021: Super League Triathlon On the Rise

Power List 2021 Social

SLT surpasses Chelsea FC, Formula E, MLB, and other major players on the 2021 edition of the list.

Super League Triathlon (SLT) has joined the likes of Amazon, F1, FIFA and the NFL on the The Sports Technology Power List 2021. Just one of 17 new entries on the prestigious list, SLT has placed higher than industry big dogs Chelsea FC, Eurosport, Formula E, MLB and WWE.

The Sports Technology Power List is the ‘ultimate industry guide to the brands shaping the future of sport and sports innovation’ for those that are most innovative, influential and active in the sports technology space.

A Year of Innovation

The past 20 months have seen a massive shift in the sports industry. While many sports were forced to stop and venues closed their doors, the environment also allowed for sports technology to innovate and thrive. This paved the way for Super League to create something new and disruptive in the world of triathlon. The SLT Arena Games.

This hybrid racing series was launched in partnership with Zwift – the online virtual running and cycling app and made its debut in Rotterdam, 2020. Two further events came later, SLT Arena Games London, and a return to the Netherlands in 2021, which also saw the introduction of paratriathlon formats.

With eyes set on 2022, Super League’s disruptive format perfectly blends real life and virtual racing. This has proved a massive success, both among fans and the sports industry. So, to be recognised for this innovation on The Power List is a great achievement for the organisation.

“Innovation and disruption has always been at the heart of Super League since its conception. The global pandemic drove us to think outside the box – being out of your comfort zone is usually where the best ideas are developed – and with this, the SLT Arena Games was born.

“Just being on The Power List, among so many giants in the sporting world is a privilege. Knowing that we have been ranked higher than some of the greats in the industry is something special. With our focus on two exciting series next year and a host of activations, we will continue to innovate and aim to climb the list even further,” said Super League CEO and Co-Founder Michael D’hulst.
