Athletes Men › Tamás Tóth
Tamás Tóth has spent years helping athletes to further their careers as well as trying to develop his own. Tamás was elected onto the ITU Athletes’ Committee in 2018 and became chairman before joining World Triathlon’s Executive Board representing athletes as he found a passion in helping his fellow competitors get a voice to help improve the sport. The Hungarian started racing as a junior back in 2007 having taken up the sport at the age of 13 after a background in competitive swimming and table tennis.
The former of those pastimes proved far more useful than the latter as he forged his way in triathlon with a debut in the Gyor ITU Duathlon World Championships. Tamás joined the National High Performance Scheme in Hungary and started to see positive results.
In 2012 he won the bronze medal in the Mixed Relay European Championships – a feat he repeated in 2016 – and took the same honour in the World Championships in Hamburg in 2014. He also finished sixth in the European Championships in Glasgow in 2018. Tamás was selected to represent Hungary at the 2016 Rio Olympics and finished 33rd, a placing he bettered in Tokyo as he came 29th.
Tamás studied Sport Management at Eotvos Lorand University in Budapest where he lives and is fluent in four languages.
