Rachel Klamer

In 2008, her first year in triathlon, Rachel won the Dutch Junior titles in both triathlon and duathlon and a year later was second at the European Junior Championships and third at the Worlds. Aged just 18, and after next to no time in the sport, she was already competing at an elite level and took a gold medal at a European Cup event in Alanya to really get noticed.

There followed a decade of sustained success, mixing it with the very best in the world. Some highlights include a silver medal in the inaugural European Games in Baku, Azerbaijan, and a victory at WTS Abu Dhabi in 2018. In addition, Rachel has appeared at two Olympic Games for the Netherlands – London 2012 and Rio 2016.

Her Super League Triathlon pedigree is also unquestionable. In 2018 she had three top-four finishes to end the season as runner-up in the Championship Series behind Katie Zaferes. She finished second and third in the two races held in 2019 and took on the first-ever SLT Arena Games in Rotterdam in 2020, where she was runner-up to Jess Learmonth.

Rachel had injury struggles at the start of 2021 but came back in style to finish fourth at the Tokyo Olympics.

Rachel is married to fellow triathlete Richard Murray.
