Athletes Women › Anna Godoy Contreras
Anna Godoy Contreras is keeping it in the family with her exploits in the world of triathlon. Anna’s father was an international triathlete, while her brother is also part of the Spanish team. With such family dynamics, it was no wonder that Anna had the drive to become a professional triathlete. Dad Francesc is a five-time Spanish champion so Anna grew up watching and understanding triathlon.
Her older brother, Cesc, was also swim-bike-running early as well-meaning the family could enjoy time outdoors together in Barcelona. The pair still train together now when both in Barcelona, but their father has taken a backward step to allow them to develop their own careers. Anna was already competing at the Swimming Club of Barcelona at the age of 5. She joined the Blume Sports Technification Center at 16, intending to pursue triathlon. At this time, Anna became junior Spanish champion in both triathlon and duathlon to mark out her potential.
She became the first Spanish athlete to represent the country at the Youth Olympics Games in 2010 and was brought into the Spanish Triathlon Federation programme. It has been a steady build to the top of the elite game for Anna. Her results gradually improved throughout 2016 and 2017 before the top ten finishes in European Cup events in Hungary and Portugal in 2018 and a win at the Triathlon ProTour Pontevedra event in 2019.
Her biggest result was at the SLT Arena Games in Rotterdam in 2021, where she produced an excellent display to finish on the podium in third place. Anna is also studying advertising at University in Barcelona.
